County Commissioner
Greetings, I am J.J. Tune, a native of Dent County. I am a 1967 graduate of Salem High School and a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine and practice in the Dent County Veterinary Clinic. I also have an interest in the Dent County Memorial Chapel and reside in the Dent House on MacArthur Street. I am a member of the Salem Christian Church and serve as an elder and Sunday School teacher.
I was appointed Commissioner in 1999 by Gov. Mel Carnahan and was re-elected in 2001 and 2004.
* Since in office, have initialized 25 miles of chip and seal, 60 miles of road have been rebuilt
and white rocked, 4 new bridges have been built, with 12 bridges being restored and
reinforced.
* Since in office the county has passed a one-half cent sales tax, which has enabled the
Sheriff's Department to double in size and to add new services every year.
* Since in office, the county has initialized and funded rural addressing, which will enhance
the effectiveness of emergency services.
* Since in office, have been very active in seeking grants and outside funding sources for
a number of county improvements.
I feel my accomplishments, experience and knowledge of Dent County and my love for Dent County and its people, qualifies me to represent you as your County Commissioner in District 2.
