The Dent County Sheriff’s Department released their reports involving an attempted arson and a DWI. On March 16th at 10:32 pm, the Dent County Sheriff's Department received a report of someone attempting to set a camper trailer on fire off of Dent County Road 5390.  A silver Chevrolet 4-door pickup truck was observed pulling off of County Road 5390 and going westbound on B Highway. The truck was described as having "4 X 4" in red outlined in black on the side of the bed. A citizen discovered a fire was burning under or near the trailer and extinguished it. The Sheriff's Department was called and the responding Deputy collected evidence and noted there was an odor of raw gasoline vapor still present.  The camper trailer was scorched at the right rear and some plastic molding had melted off.  On March 15th at 1:11 am while on routine patrol a Dent County Sheriff's Deputy observed a vehicle traveling westbound on Highway 32. The vehicle was weaving from the edge of the road to the center yellow dividing line and crossed the centerline 4 times. After pulling the vehicle over, investigation led to the arrest of a 53-year old male who was cited for operating a Motor Vehicle While in an Intoxicated Condition. Anyone with information concerning the fire or the described vehicle in the incident, which is still under investigation, is encouraged to contact the Dent County Sheriff's Department at 729-3241.
