An accident occurred at 4:33 Sunday morning in Phelps County that took the life of a Detroit, Michigan man about two miles west of Rolla. According to the highway patrol report, 54-year old Lawrence Woods was driving a 2014 Kenworth Tractor in the westbound lanes of Interstate-44 at mile marker 182 when he ran off the right side of the roadway. The Kenworth then hit a sign, guardrail, and multiple trees. Woods was pronounced dead at the scene at 5:29 by Phelps County Coroner Lenox Jones. He was wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident. The Kenworth was totaled and removed from the scene by C&C Towing.

An accident occurred at 12:45 Sunday morning in Phelps County on Route F about five miles south of Rolla. According to the highway patrol report, 19-year old Chad Snelson of Rolla was driving a 2005 Ford F-250 west when the vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, returned to the road, traveled off the left side of the roadway, struck several trees, and then overturned. Snelson was not wearing a seat restraint at the time of the accident and was ejected from the vehicle. He suffered moderate injuries and was taken to the Phelps County Regional Medical Center. Snelson was then charged with driving while intoxicated and careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident.

An accident occurred at 1:55 Sunday afternoon in Dent County on County Road 3260 about half a mile from Highway 68. According to the highway patrol report, 54-year old Linda Anderson of Salem was backign a 1989 Ford Bronco II from a driveway when she accelerated rapidly, crossed the county road, and struck several fences. The vehicle then struck a tree before coming to rest off the roadway. Anderson suffered minor injuries and was treated at the SMDH and released. She was then arrested for DWI (drugs) and careless and imprudent driving resulting in an accident and later released.

Roadwork continues in Dent County this week. Bridge maintenance will take place on Highway 32 over Dry Valley Creek, east of county road 4245, today through Thursday. Roadway maintenance will take place on Route FF, between Highway 68 and Highway 72, today. Roadway maintenance will take place on Route TT, between Highway 19 and County Road 4020, Tuesday and Wednesday. One lane will be open, and crews will flag traffic through the work areas. The Public Water Supply District No 1 of Dent County would like to notify their customers who live off of Highway 32 will be experiencing low water pressure today through Wednesday, September 11th as they will be doing maintenance and repairs to the water tower. Derek McClain's 63-yard touchdown late in the 4th quarter proved to be the difference as the Salem Tigers outlasted the Plattsburg Tigers Saturday afternoon in Salisbury by the score of 22-14. McClain finished with 111 yards on 13 carries in the game. Dylan Wisdom threw his second touchdown pass of the year to Logan Pogue in the first quarter and Eli Floyd returned an interception for 82 yards in the third quarter for the other Salem scores. The Tigers are now 2-0 on the year and 1-0 in the SCA. They will be in Owensville Friday night starting at 7:00. It took eight innings on Friday, but the Salem Lady Tigers came back from a 9-7 deficit in the bottom of the 8th inning with three runs and defeated Vienna, 10-9 at the Salem City Park. Camryn Pryor drove in the winning run and had three hits on the day and two RBI. Kirsten Strebe went 3-5 with 3 RBI and Cortney Putman went 2-4 with 4 RBI. Salem is now 4-3 on the year and they will be at St. James today to face the Lady Tigers.

According to Athletic Director Phillip Karr, there will be a combined JV and 9th grade football game today at 5:30 against Ava at the Salem Football Field. Next Monday, September 16th, there will also be a combined JV and 9th grade football game against Owensville at Salem starting at 5:30.

On Friday, September 20th, the 12th Tiger Football Booster Club will be sponsoring the annual football parade. All student organizations, clubs, businesses, classes, churches and teams are encouraged to participate. The parade participants need to line up around the Dent County Courthouse around 5:30 pm. The parade will take off at 6:00 pm and head toward the football field. Parade participants may ride on a vehicle, trailer or walk. Candy and other small items may be thrown. Rookie Michael Wacha tossed seven scoreless innings, as the St. Louis Cardinals wrapped up a convincing three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates with Sunday's 9-2 win. Matt Carpenter, Jon Jay and David Freese each had two hits and one RBI for the NL Central-leading Cardinals, who are now 1 1/2 games up on the second-place Pirates and Cincinnati Reds in the division standings. The Cardinals have the day off.

Eric Hosmer hit the go-ahead three-run homer in the fifth inning, as Kansas City downed Detroit, 5-2, in the rubber match of a three-game series. Alex Gordon and Billy Butler each contributed a pair of hits and a run driven in for the Royals, who took the final two contests in the set and will start a three-game series with the Indians tonight.

James Franklin accounted for 289 yards of offense as the Missouri Tigers pulled away late to take down the Toledo Rockets, 38-23, in a non-conference bout at Faurot Field. Franklin completed 16-of-25 passes for 212 yards with a touchdown while also rushing for a team-high 77 yards for Missouri (2-0), who is off until September 21 when the play Indiana.

Sam Bradford threw for 299 yards, Jared Cook had a monster debut and Greg Zuerlein's fourth field goal of the day lifted the St. Louis Rams over the Arizona Cardinals, 27-24, in a Week 1 matchup between division rivals. Cook caught both of Bradford's touchdown passes. The Rams will play the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday.

Alex Smith threw a pair of touchdown passes and Jamaal Charles ran for a score in Kansas City's 28-2 demolition of the Jaguars. Smith completed 21-of-34 passes for 173 yards. Charles rushed for 77 yards on 16 carries for the Chiefs, who will play the Cowboys Sunday.

Funeral services for Jim D. Sisco of Salem, age 72, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 at the Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Visitation will be tonight from 5:00 to 8:00. Interment will be in the Cedar Grove Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Dent County Relay for Life.

Funeral services for Christine A. Webb of Salem, age 83, will be held Wednesday at 11:00 at the Salem United Methodist Church. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6:00 to 8:00 at Wilson Mortuary in Salem. Interment will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Salem United Methodist Church Bus Program.

Funeral services for Karen S. Rodgers of St. James, age 65, will be held Thursday at 11:00 at the St. James Church of God. Visitation will be Wednesday from 5:00 to 7:00 at the James and Gahr Mortuary in St. James. Interment will be in the Hughes Cemetery.

Funeral services for Cecile Marjory “Pat” Lewis of Lees Summit, Missouri, formerly of Salem, age 89, will be held Saturday at 1:00 at the Wilson Mortuary Salem Chapel. Visitation will be held from 11:00 until service time on Saturday. Interment will be in the Miner Cemetery with full military honors.

A visitation memorial service for Myrtle Lucille (Stites) Price, age 71, will be this Saturday in Springfield at the Green Lawn Funeral Home.
