The Dent County Commissioners met for their regular meeting at the Dent County Courthouse Thursday morning. In the road report, Commissioners Dennis Purcell and Gary Larson both reported that conditions are too wet for grading. In District 1, Commissioner Purcell reported that crews would be busy replacing road signs, replacing a hydraulic pump shaft on a brush cutter and preparing for winter by mounting brackets on equipment to hold snowplows. In District 2, Commissioner Larson reported that brush would be cut on Dent County Roads 3030 and 5240, and a crew would be putting up new road signs as well as picking up trash and old tires on various roads throughout the district. Presiding Commissioner Darrell Skiles reported that he recently attended a Transportation Advisory Committee Meeting where discussion was held on making Highway 63 a four-lane road from Rolla to the junction of Highway 50 near Jefferson City. The project has been broken down into seven sections, but no definite plans have been made to proceed with the idea. The Highway 63 Relief Route around Rolla was also discussed and it was reported that Rolla had committed to seven million dollars in cost share money to help fund the project that has been placed on the 2013 State Transportation Improvement Program. Dent County Clerk Angie Curley reported that at 10:00 next Thursday, the Commission would hold a budget hearing for the Senior Citizens Service Fund due to a budget amendment request. Virginia Waites came by the meeting to discuss with Commissioner Larson the possibility of putting in more culverts on Dent County Road 4480 to prevent more washouts in the future. Commissioner Larson said he and a member of the District 2 Road Crew would come out and look at the road and talk with Mrs. Waites about what could be done.  Also at the meeting, the Commission agreed for Dent County to participate in the Department of Economic Development Rental Rehabilitation Program.  The program has 10 million dollars in disaster relief money that would be available for rental property upgrades and 300 thousand dollars of that money is expected to be made available to the counties in the MRPC Region. The next meeting of the Commissioners will be Monday morning at 9:00 and that meeting is open to the public.
